Preventing Hepatitis B Infections in US Adults - Online
Only 25 percent of US adults in high-risk groups for hepatitis B (HBV) infection, as identified by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), get vaccinated as recommended. HBV vaccination helps prevent new infection and interrupts further transmission of the virus.
Learning Objectives:
At the completion of this activity, the participant will be able to:
- Discuss the epidemiology of acute and chronic hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection in the US
- Describe the long-term outcomes of chronic HBV infection
- Summarize CDC immunization recommendations for adult populations at risk for HBV infection
- Assess interventions to increase adult HBV vaccination rates for implementation in practice
